Fratze is a collection of 51 monochromatic portraits that exist at the intersection of profile picture and pure abstraction. Created by Kim Asendorf using custom-built painting software, each piece reduces the human face to aggressive black tech paint marks against transparency—no color, no traits, no compromise. Originally planned as 256 works, the series terminates abruptly at 51, lending it an unfinished, almost defiant character. The German title translates to "mug" or "grimace," and that rawness permeates every 480×480 pixel composition. Asendorf, making his only entry into PFP territory, treats the format as conceptual framework rather than social currency.
